This webinar offers an introduction to behavioural economics, explaining its definition, foundational principles, and the impact of cognitive and motivational biases on decision-making. Touching on the tools of choice architecture, we discuss how the design of decision environments shapes individual choices and influences societal outcomes. We explore real world applications of behavioural insights in public policy, from enhancing healthcare interventions to promoting sustainable behaviours to optimising financial decision-making. We conclude with reflections on the efficacy of nudges on driving behaviour change for social good, the ethical consideration surrounding libertarian paternalism, and future trajectories of incorporating behavioural economics into policy making.
